At Sound Leadership Consulting, was built from decades of hands-on leadership, coaching, and organizational experience and a clear understanding of what it actually takes to lead well. Many leaders step into supervisory roles without enough support to manage people, navigate conflict, or lead through change with confidence. Sound Leadership exists to close that gap.
With more than forty years of experience in leadership, supervision, and professional development, Sound Leadership brings practical insight to the challenges leaders face every day. About Me
I’m Cathy Abshire, founder of Sound Leadership Consulting. For more than three decades, I’ve worked alongside supervisors, managers, and teams in healthcare, education, government, and nonprofit settings often during moments of change, growth, or challenge.
My background includes years in supervisory and director-level roles, where I managed teams, mentored staff, and supported leaders as they navigated the realities of leading people. I’ve coached individuals at every stage of their career, helped departments move through transition, and supported employees who needed the right guidance to regain confidence and perform at their best.
What has shaped my work most is experience seeing firsthand how strong leadership improves communication, reduces conflict, and builds trust within teams. I launched Sound Leadership to offer practical, relationship-driven coaching that feels supportive, clear, and useful in the real world. My goal is to help supervisors lead with confidence and empathy while building teams that work well together and grow stronger over time.
I believe that with the right support and resources, the challenges leaders face today become more manageable and that leadership, while demanding, can also be a deeply rewarding and fulfilling experience.
